Interim

I believe I deserve an G. I have been a more healthier person this sem than last sem. I have gained 5 pounds of muscle and have gotten faster and stronger. My attendance is I believe has been perfect so far this sem. I think I bring an enthusiastic and high energy of attitude to the class. My work ethic is always to get better. I put in effort not only on fitness days but regular choice days/Class activities as well. I've always brought my pe strip that isn't even a question if I brought it or not. 

My leadership for being the older and tall guy in my class, I think it's alright. 
There's room for improvement. But overall my leadership is to help the younger kids out and lead the class in a good way. My commitment to going to the gym and being the best basketball not just being good at ball but being the best is my motivation.

 My commitment to going to the gym is to get bigger and stronger and faster so I beat my rivals, opponents. I have a diet plan that controls how much I should eat and what to eat/drink. I've got supplements to help me as well. I am continuing to rehab my knee. I am still experiencing pain but that's just the road I have to go through.

 My goals:
1) to be the best player in basketball in school and province
2) To get faster and stronger
3) Transition to be a Point Guard
4) average 25PPG 10 Rebounds 5 Assists  
5)Lead team to provincials , Surreys, Fraser's, not just lead them but win them all
6) Win RCMP
7) Get as many MVP and POG awards to
Get noticed as the best
To achieve these goals it's about practice."talkin bout practice"- Allen overdone hahah. But that's all it is practicing playing Summer club and luckily the break is coming and I can improve my overall game even more and become the best I can be. I don't just think about myself getting better, I want my teammates to get better. I bring them to the gym to get better in basketball and in their physical life. I have improved my mid range by a lot. I know how hard I worked on my shot. I just need to continue. I promised myself that I would transform into the star that I want to be. Make my parents proud of me that their son has lead his team to championships. Not only that I want to win next year, tired of losing 2 years in a row. First round frasers kicked out. Surreys first round got kicked out of contention. I believe next year is going to be a good year. I promise you that, I promise to take Sullivan Heights to the next level. People think sulli sucks in sports were just an art school. I want to make them rethink that.

G.Athwal "Grade 9" active learning

The Big Picture
-My thoughts about active learning is that it was a good thing to start.  Before people only did pe because they wanted an A. But now if you look people are having fun and enjoying or while sweating and trying instead of being forced to do it for an grade.
- Being fit and trying is important to me. I try to do my best on fitness days because i know it helps me long and short term.  If I don't try I get a guilt feeling. 
-I would give myself an A/G. I try to be a leader in class because I'm older and the grade 8's are new. I try to start up the activities too when there's nothing going on. I help with the clean up too and organize the teams sometimes.

Your Body and Health
My motivation to be fit is basketball. To be honest basketball is my life. I always want to improve and be better at the end of the day.  I had  an serious injury this term. I had an LCL sprain. It was really hard for me to step out and watch the class participate as well watching my teammates play basketball. I had determined to come back not the same but faster and stronger. I had 8.9 beep test which was already low for me . I usually get 10-11 in between.  When I came back I had a beep test score of 10.9. For me that was exceptional., as I was coming off an  knee sprain. This was really hard for me to come back to be honest. I had an injury last year to but that was my chest. This year it was my knee. When I did come to class, I really wanted  to participate. So you told me I should go to the weight room or do the exercise which doesn't involve your knee. So I did participate with my knee at fitness days.

Attitude
My attitude towards any gym class is great in my view. I come prepared  mentally and physically. I always have my pe strip. I always have the mentality to participate and try,  I even focus on helping the  younger kids . We were in this position  last year and I got a lot of help from my grade 9 friends. I would also say I bring an positive attitude. I try to be enthusiastic when it's necessary and be serious when needed to.

Growing/Goals
I believe I am growing in most areas of my body, and physique. I am more active then last year, because I know what it takes to go to the next level in basketball. My goals that I have set were getting at least a 11 in the next beep test. I have gotten an 9 then 10 so I believe I am on my way. I also believe that one of my goals is to get better in basketball and my vertical. I have been practicing with my program I have for my vertical jump. And for basketball I'm on the school team. I play centre but now I want to transform into a guard which will higher my chances of going further.

Gurkirat Athwal active learning

1 .During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate in a variety of activities?  On what days have you participated to your best effort and why?  What days have been a struggle for you and why?

Every gym class I have brought my gym strip and my running shoes. I have also always been on time for class. I always participate in variety of activities such as basketball, weight room, soccer, etc. I also enjoy being involved in my class and I am always willing to try my best and pushing it to the limit. I have participated to my best effort mostly every class, it has been rare than I haven't tried my best in gym class. I have rarely struggled when I am very tired on some days. The day before PE class I might have high intensity basketball practice that leaves me with no energy. But that has been very rare, as I've said before. 


2. How do you contribute to the overall success of the class?  What kind of attitude do you bring and why?  How do you interact with other students in our class?

I always clean up and help my class do better in certain areas. As basketball is my strength I always give out pointers and well as listen to classmates that play basketball and get pointers from them. I always encourage my classmates to get better and work hard. My attitude is always loyal, caring, positive, and determined to work hard. I always include everybody in every activity that we do. I always try to make new friends and get know people better by talking to them on and off. It's easy to work well with others if your attitude is right.

3. Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself physically?  What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most?  What fitness goals do you have for the rest of the year? 

I always am interested in fitness because it helps me in my lower areas in my health that I try to get better in. Such as stamina. The beep test has helped me a lot in basketball as you constantly run up and down the court at a intense speed. I always enjoy fitness. Yes, I have been able to push myself. When I feel like giving up I always think about basketball and if I want to get better I have to keep on going on. My most enjoyable fitness activity would be the circuit in the two gyms. My fitness goals are to get my stamina built up, and get my beep test score higher!

4. What does “leadership” mean to you?  Who are the best leaders in our class - why?

What leadership means to me is being a good role model, leading people into a good direction, encouraging classmates to step up, cheering for everybody, helping everyone out, etc!  I think i'm one of the best leaders in our class because I always include everybody, help everyone, and always cheer and encourage my classmates. I'd also say the T.A.'s and Mr.Vaughn are excellent role models and excellent leaders. They all lead us to a good direction and always help us when were in trouble. 

5. What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year?  What are you the most proud of so far?

 I would like to bump up my beep test score by 2 making it 11. I'd also like to get faster and build up more stamina by the end of the year. So far I am most proud of how we have PE every second day and I can be fit everyday. This class is leading my life to be even more healthier and more energetic. 

I think I deserve an A in my report card for active learning. Because I have been a good leader, tried my best in every way possible in every activity. I have been including everyone, not leaving out anyone alone. I have been on time for class with my PE strip. I have pushed myself over the limit every time we do fitness. I always participate in every activity. I have sat out classes because of my injury problems, but I have still been enjoying and participating in my class. I've always cheered on and congratulated my teammates whether I'm in action in class or sat out because of my injuries.   

FINAL BLOG ENTRY :)

Let me start off by saying, this year has been great. I have learned alot aout m body and continue to lear more. Active learning is actually better than previous gym courses. Mr Vaughan has kept up with not only my fitness life but my whole classes as well. Thats just one posistive i take away from this course. There are a whole lot more but i would be here all day talking about it.

- Comment on your; attendance / punctuality / readiness to participate
My attendance has been great. I have showed up to every class never been late, or have i missed a class. To be honest my favourite days are when i have active learning. As its the the fun, and most active course i have. I always look forward to my second block as its funnest class i have. As ive said active learning is my favourite course i always particapate. i dont like sitting out as its not fun at all. i like to be in action and be running and having fun with my classmates.
- Comment on any changes to your fitness.  Reflect on why the change happened.
My fitness life has changed and improved alot. Beginning of the year i was lazy and not that active as i got a 9 on my beep test. But lately i have been getting 10.5 - 11.1 on the beep tests. I feel more active. This change happened because of high school fitness. Elementary is nothing compared to high school. The fitness level is much higher.

- Comment on how you contribute to our class dynamic?  What do you bring?  Give examples.
I think i bring  excitement. I don't like gym class to be boring.I actually want to have fun. So in order to do that sometimes i bring that excitement into class. For example last class we were playing basketball and it got boring. So i tried to switch up the teams and get a real game going instead of just having a boring game.
- Comment on what it means to you to be physically educated?  How are you ready for independence?

- Reflect on what barriers might be keeping you from succeeding a healthy, active lifestyle.  Troubleshoot those obstacles.
Fast food for sure. I rarely eat them now. I always try to stay away from McDonald's and Burger king, etc. Because it hurts my active life. I always go to the gym and this one meal can take all that hard work away. I certainly don't want that to come.

- Suggest a grade that attempts to reflect you learning / performance / understandings / contributions...
I think i deserve an A. From September to June i have improved alot. From being chubby in grade 7 to gaining all muscle in grade 8 i have acomplished what i wanted to do. My performances have been good in fitness days and all other active days. I never sit out. I contribute to my class alot. I clean up always never leave a person out for a game when were playing. And i have a weight gaining plan that i follow for muscle.
